EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER FULLY ACTIVATED
Residents in eastern low-lying areas should prepare
As of 9:00 a.m. (ChST), the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has been fully activated and officials continue to closely monitor the latest developments in Hawaii and Guam. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center still estimates the time of arrival for Guam to occur at 1:11 p.m. today. As a precaution, local officials are advising all residents in low-lying areas from Merizo to Chalan Pago to begin reviewing their evacuation routes and staging sites and prepare their emergency supply kits.
Tsunami Evacuation Staging Sites (Merizo – Chalan Pago):
Inarajan low-lying areas
○From Lada through Inarajan Pool head to Ija Subdivision
○From Ajayan Point through Lada head to UOG Farm
○Village Area head to Inarajan Elementary School
○Chagami and Chagamin Lagu area head to Southern Regional Public Health
Merizo low-lying areas
○From Chalan Pedro Tainatongo thorugh Chalan Quinene head to Chalan Jesus Quinene
○From Chalan Quinene to Chalan J. A. Cruz head to Merizo Elementary/Community
Center
○From Chalan J. A. Cruz to Bile head to Fort Soledad
Ordot/Chalan Pago low-lying areas
○Pago Bay head to Ordot/Chalan Pago Community Center or M. U. Lujan Elementary
School in Yona
Talofofo low-lying areas
○From Togcha Elementary to Beja Road head to Windward Hills Golf Course area using
Route 17
○From Beja Road to Talofofo Bay (surf area) head to Notre Dame School using Route
4A
Residents are reminded to avoid all beaches, low-lying areas and are urged to continue to monitor local media for more information. All public beaches and beaches on military installations have been closed as and will remain closed until further notice.
Additionally, Guam Homeland Security and the Office of Civil Defense in conjunction with the United States Coast Guard are strongly advising all recreational boaters to take immediate precautions and to avoid all waters until the all clear has been given.
Residents are advised to call Guam Homeland Security and the Office of Civil Defense at 475-9600 for updated information relative to this warning and should refrain from calling 9-1-1 for any non-emergency calls.
